Caerffili/Caerphilly Castle, South Wales
Hello and welcome to my mailing list.!
Thanks for signing-up. Here is a recording for you to listen to now or download for later. There are two stories here both taken from my #1 Amazon Kindle besteller, Celtic Folktales from Wales. The first one is from the castle in the picture above, which is a short journey from my house. The castle looks big in the photograph but it is even more imposing in real life. It was one of the many castles built by Edward I of England to try and keep the Welsh in their place. It worked for a while but I am happy to say that, if you go there now, you’ll see the flag of the Welsh Dragon flying from the flagpole.
We have a thing about death in Wales and we have many portents of death. The strangest is the Toili (rhymes with ‘oily’) which is a vision of a funeral which hasn’t happened - yet!
More heartache in carnage in the second story which takes place in a village called Nant Gwrtheyrn on the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales. Today it is a residential centre for teaching Welsh and a popular wedding venue - you will appreciate the irony of the wedding connection once you have listened to the story!
More stories and news about Pig Boy coming up in future mailouts.
All the best, Michael
